With several big cruise ships in town and the sun shining brightly above, it was a great day for an International Gastro Fair on Split’s waterfront Riva today.  More than 30 countries were represented and the Riva was turned into an impromptu food court of free goodies from all over the world.

Croatia had three or four booths, but even countries like Malta had their own.  With the tourist season in full swing, it wasn’t long before the Riva was swarming with folks eager to taste their way down the gauntlet.

Everybody was having a great time, that’s for sure.  And it was good to see such an event happen with such ease and speed.  It began around noon and by 2PM, the stalls were all gone and the Riva was once again its old self.  Even the plastic plates and forks and spoons were swept up and carted away!

Each country had the same size booth and served just a single dish that represented its national cuisine
