Earlier this week the sleek new Radisson Blu (part of the Rezidor Group) officially opened in Split.  It’s the only four star waterfront hotel in Split, but what really sets it apart is that almost 90% of its 246 rooms have ocean views.  And with glass balconies, beautifully fitted built-ins and sophisticated in-room electronics, even the standard rooms are special.  Some even have beds that face the sea!

Perched on a cliff in the Znjan area of the city (you can walk along the beach all the way into the center of Split in about 30 minutes) on 23,000 sq. meters of glorious oceanfront, the Radisson Blu is what Split has needed for far too long–a world class destination hotel.

With its sensational spa (both cold and hot plunge pools, a steam room, sauna, exclusive “made to order” cosmetics, massage and much much more; terrific 1,500 sq. meter outdoor dining terrace (like being on the deck of a luxe class ocean liner); a trio of beaches tucked under a natural park and an array of restaurants and bars; the Radisson Blu will lure everyone from Brits, Spaniards and Scandinavians looking for a quick three day getaway to week long vacationers from Down Under and Asia.

And the hotel is also geared up for corporate events with everything from classy break out rooms to spacious meeting rooms for small conventions.

Kudos to GM Maik Schaefer, national sales manager Ivan Rudolf Gagic, sales manager Jaksa Jukic, director of operations Carsten Wappler and their staff (40% of whom are veterans of the former Hotel Split which after a $70million retrofit became the new Radisson Blu) who worked round the clock to make all of this happen before the season ended.

Last night the Radisson had a small celebration to welcome locals for a look around and to enjoy some yummy canapes and wine.  (And to top it off, to listen to some really outstanding live music featuring a very talented local singer with a rich, bluesy voice (Marina) and her cool pianist (Duje).

A wonderful night–I’m sure we’ll be back!
