Split 15, US Navy 2!

After a shaky two innings, leading only by a run, Split’s baseball team rolled to a 15-2 win over the visiting US Navy team.  The game was competitive for a while, but then sloppy fielding and erratic pitching gave Split the opportunity to build a lead that eventually was just too much to overcome.

The highlight of the game was a bases loaded, inning ending triple play by Split that took the wind out of Navy–it was their best chance to get back into the game.

I was fortunate to play first base for the last two innings and made the final put out.  After the game we treated the visitors to a barbecue of grilled pork and cevapi with lots of beer and soda.

Tomorrow is the beginning of the Croatian League playoffs–let’s hope our victory today will be repeated tomorrow!

Stay tuned

Go Split!
