Split is 2-1 as the European baseball tournament continues

Halfway through the European Baseball Cup in Antwerp, Nada, Split’s baseball team, is 2-1, having beaten Greece and Serbia.

Its only loss was to the powerhouse Czech team, Technkia Brno.

The Czech team has blasted the competition winning all its games by double digit margins (23-0, 16-0, 18-3) but Nada managed to score 4 runs, in its 14-4 loss.

The six teams will play through Friday and then the championship will be on Saturday.

Team coach Ernesto Pereira is the tournament’s leading pitcher with 13 Ko’s in 10 innings, but the team is batting an anemic .171.

Another Nada standout is center fielder Filip Berecka, who is tied for the lead in steals with 3 out of 3 attempts.
