Bozena Martincevic’s Sparkling Fashion Show at the Park Hotel

As part of Split’s Days of Diocletian festival, the Park Hotel hosted a fashion show last night  “from Roman times to the present” featuring Bozena Martincevic’s creations.  Under the glittering palm trees, surrounding by lush greenery, hundreds of Martincevic  admirers enjoyed a special themed dinner, wine, a string quartet and a terrific fashion show.

The festivities started off with a ensemble of baton twirlers and then quickly segued to a series of runway appearances by local models wearing an array of inspired designs that ranged from Martincevic’s interpretation of early Roman attire to the present day.

Combining ancient, folk and contemporary elements worked surprisingly well.  My personal favorites were a stunning medieval-influenced evening dress and a winning collection of casual and evening wear done in breezy cotton with traditional folk design accents.

The lush surroundings, of the Park’s splendid outdoor terrace,

music and swirling colors made for a very romantic evening.  Although we didn’t come for dinner, we did enjoy a great sacher torte, panna cotta and tirimasu.
